Wilma Cravens Legacy

Wilma Cravens, former Emporia State Federal Credit Union Manager, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.

Wilma was a ferocious leader and led ESFCU from 1981-2001. Under her helm, she purchased and renovated the West 12th Ave. building to what it is today, expanded membership groups, saw assets grow from around $1M to over $20M,  and updated technology including an in-house computer system, direct deposit, and ATM cards. Plus, a few mergers too. Her employees came to appreciate her high expectations which inspired growth – for both the credit union and her staff. There is no doubt ESFCU would not be the financial institution it is today without her leadership.

Her foundation, like ESFCU, is built on family. We have a saying of “once a member, always a member.” Family does not have to be formed solely by blood or marriage. It can be created by those who choose to make a mutual commitment to each other. Just like the credit union makes a commitment to its members, Wilma did to her family, friends, and staff as well.

She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Wilma’s legacy will live on through the leaders she inspired and the permanent mark she left on the Emporia State Federal Credit Union.

The entire ESFCU family extends our deepest condolences to Wilma’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Memorial donations can be made to the “Don Cravens Scholarship” and mailed to the Emporia State University Foundation  at 1331 Market St., Emporia, KS 66801.
