1. How do I get my paycheck to be directly deposited into my account?

Just visit your payroll department for a direct deposit form. All you need is your account number and your ESFCU routing number. You can designate to have funds go to checking and savings.

Account number:  Your account number needs to be 6 digits long.

         Change Acct # 1234 to 012340
         Change Acct # 56789 to 567890
ESFCU routing number: 301178107

2. What information do I need in order to set up an automatic withdrawal from my checking account? (i.e. insurance payment or other monthly bill)

Contact the company to see what their policy is pertaining to automatic withdrawals. Some companies require a voided check to start an automatic withdrawal which provides your ESFCU checking account number and ESFCU routing number.

Account number:  Your account number needs to be 6 digits long.
   Example:
         Change Acct # 1234 to 012340
         Change Acct # 56789 to 567890
ESFCU routing number: 301178107.

3. What are your wiring instructions?

To wire funds into a Credit Union account you must wire to:

  • Millennium Corporate Credit Union in Wichita, KS
    ABA# 301180111

For credit to Emporia State Federal Credit Union

  • ABA# 301178107
For further credit to the member’s account number and name.
4. What do I do if my wallet is stolen?

To secure your account, we will deactivate your Visa Debit Card immediately from further usage.

In the event your checks or account information is stolen or misplaced, please contact the credit union as soon as possible. Stop payment orders and security arrangements can be made on your account to prevent stolen checks from clearing your account.

Safety Tip: Keep your Visa Debit Card pin number separate from your actual card.

Please contact us as soon as possible in the event that your Visa Debit Card is stolen or misplaced (620-342-2336 or 866-342-2336). If unable to reach the credit union directly, the Star network can be reached 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week at 1-800-523-4175.

If STAR has contacted you regarding fraudulent transactions, they might leave a number for you to call them back to verify activity associated with your card.  That callback number is 1-800-327-8622.

5. How long before I receive my checks?

Each check order is processed at Check Printing Solutions within two business days and shipped from the company via third class mail. Typically, it takes 7 to 10 business days to reach its final destination.

In a hurry? Requests can be made to have your check order shipped by express mail at an additional charge. Check with the staff for specific pricing.

6. Why do you place holds on checks being deposited?

Check holds protect you - the member and the Credit Union.

Each member is ultimately responsible for checks that are deposited (or cashed) and returned to the credit union unpaid for any reason. This includes instances when you have already withdrawn the funds.

Typically, it is the credit union’s policy to give immediate credit for deposits made to ESFCU. In some cases, we will not make all of the funds you deposit by check available to you on the first business day after you deposit.  Longer delays may apply.

You will receive a notice of all holds placed on funds deposited into your Credit Union account at the time of presentment. If unable to give immediate notice, notification may be mailed to your address.

Example: Credit card checks
There is a mandatory hold on all Credit Card Checks.

Please check with a Member Service Representative for more information pertaining to Availability of Funds at your Credit Union.

7. When I am using my Visa Debit Card and they ask me if it’s Debit or Credit, what should I say?

That depends. Most of the time, you will say “Credit”. This does not mean that this is a credit card. All it means is that the transaction will be processed as a credit which is the less expensive way for the credit union. The amount will still be deducted from your checking account. If you wish to get cash back, then you would say “Debit”. You will then be prompted for your PIN (Personal Identification Number). A good way to remember is to think Credit Union Visa Debit Card- and just say “Credit”.

8.  Should I let ESFCU know when I am traveling and planning on using my Visa Check Card?  If so, why?

Yes, absolutely!  If we know in advance when you are traveling and where you are traveling to, we can make sure that your card works in places that may be restricted because of a high volume of fraud.  We are committed to doing all we can to keep your money safe.  If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call or stop by and talk to a Member Service Representative.
