3. What are your wiring instructions?

For credit to Emporia State Federal Credit Union

  • ABA# 301178107
For further credit to the member’s account number and name.

4. What do I do if my wallet is stolen?

  • Contact the credit union as soon as possible at 620-342-2336. Stop payment orders and security arrangements can be made on your account. To secure your account, we will deactivate your Visa Debit or Credit Card immediately from further usage.
  • If unable to reach the credit union directly, the Accel network can be reached 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week at 800-472-3272.

Safety Tip: Keep your Visa Debit Card pin number separate from your actual card.

5. How long before I receive my checks?

Each check order is processed at Check Printing Solutions within two business days and shipped from the company via third class mail. Typically, it takes 7 to 10 business days to reach its final destination.

In a hurry? Requests can be made to have your check order shipped by express mail at an additional charge. Check with the staff for specific pricing.

6. Why do you place holds on checks being deposited?

Check holds protect you and ESFCU.

Each member is ultimately responsible for checks that are deposited (or cashed) and returned to the credit union unpaid for any reason. This includes instances when you have already withdrawn the funds.

Typically it is the credit union’s policy to give immediate credit for deposits made to ESFCU. In some cases, we will not make all of the funds you deposit by check available to you on the first business day after you deposit.  Longer delays may apply.

You will receive a notice of all holds placed on funds deposited into your Credit Union account at the time of presentment. If unable to give immediate notice, notification may be mailed to your address.

Example: Credit card checks
There is a mandatory hold on all credit card checks.

Please check with a Member Service Representative for more information pertaining to Availability of Funds at ESFCU.

7. When I am using my Visa Debit Card and they ask me if it’s Debit or Credit, what should I say?

That depends. Most of the time, you will say “Credit”. This does not mean that this is a credit card. All it means is that the transaction will be processed as a credit which is the less expensive way for the credit union. The amount will still be deducted from your checking account. If you wish to get cash back, then you would say “Debit”. You will then be prompted for your PIN (Personal Identification Number). A good way to remember is to think Credit Union Visa Debit Card- and just say “Credit”.

8.  Should I let ESFCU know when I am traveling and planning on using my Visa Debit Card?  If so, why?

Yes, absolutely!  If we know in advance when you are traveling and where you are traveling to, we can make sure that your card works in places that may be restricted because of a high volume of fraud.  We are committed to doing all we can to keep your money safe.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call or text us at 620-342-2336 or stop by and talk to a Member Service Representative.
